Controversy over the Transfer of Justice to Buenos Aires

The Attorney General of the Nation, Eduardo Casal, requested the Supreme Court to suspend the Levinas ruling, which allowed national cases to be reviewed by the Superior Court of Justice of the city of Buenos Aires. This request was considered by the Minister of Justice of the City, Gabino Tapia, as a delaying maneuver. Tapia expressed his stance in favor of complying with the rulings and urged to advance in the pending transfers in a consensual and organized manner with the Nation to achieve full autonomy for the City.

In the letter sent to Ricardo Lorenzetti, Casal expressed his concern about the impact that the ruling would have on the Public Prosecutor's Office, hindering its ability to act legally and effectively in the local jurisdiction. He argued that the Attorney General's Office of the Nation has jurisdiction only in national courts and that the Attorney General of the City of Buenos Aires cannot appeal to the local judiciary.

Tapia, for his part, emphasized the importance of respecting judicial decisions and carrying out the transfers of powers in an orderly manner to achieve full autonomy, as established by the Supreme Court. In this regard, he stressed the need to avoid delays and move towards greater autonomy for the City of Buenos Aires, respecting the current constitutional framework.
